Meet the Team | Joey
Meet Joey, our Warehouse Manager and one of our newest team members. Joey has joined JP as one of our two token men on the team, and in his free time, he loves to ride motorcycles, travel, draw, and paint. At Elsie Green, you can find him keeping our busy warehouse in tip-top shape.
Meet the Team | Sarah
Meet Sarah, our Retail Operations Manager. She also coordinates events at our shops. She is a mother of two, avid reader, cat lover, and a longtime EG customer turned beloved team member. In her free time, she loves to travel, write, work in her garden, and she always keeps us laughing in the shop.
A New Kind of Modern Farmhouse
This house was the best kind of design project: nice clients with beautiful taste who aren't afraid to take some risks. We started working with Brian and Hilary Coate in the spring of 2019 to convert their California cottage into a modern farmhouse.
Hand Work | The Art of the Block Print
If you know Elsie Green, you know that we really only traffic in two patterns: block prints and stripes. Our love of block prints goes way back to our first trip to India more than 20 years ago where we saw the blocks hand carved and the fabrics hand printed by artisans who passed their techniques down through generations.

We love a field trip, especially one that involves food.
We headed to the San Francisco Ferry Building, shopping bags and cameras in hand, in search of fresh seasonal ingredients for our thanksgiving menu. We found figs, beets, carrots, squash, kale, brussels sprouts on their stalks and pears to design our menu around.

Moroccan basket weaving is an ancient craft that originated in Maghreb, then expanded Mediterranean markets and eventually, into global markets. On average, the baskets take about one day to make but it varies depending on the size and intricacies of the basket.

The iconic Louis Phillippe Mirror originated during the reign of Louis Philippe I, in France from 1830 to 1848. These mirrors are known for their soft, rounded top corners and squared off bottom corners.

Candle Etiquette
Like anything, candle burning has a particular etiquette that should be learned and practiced. When burning your candles, be mindful of the time. Candles should not burn for more than four hours at a time or less than one, as this will result in an uneven burn and ultimately, a deformed candle. Allow the entire surface to become molten before blowing out, and resist from lighting it again until the wax has again solidified.
A Year for Gratitude
I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. In part because it's at the top of my list of favorite holidays. But mostly because this seems to be a good year to celebrate the simple things I'm grateful for. Health, growth, love, new beginnings.
