As the clock strikes midnight and the confetti poppers pop, it's time to raise your glass and toast to a brand new year. Whether you're hosting a large party or just celebrating with a few close friends, this New Year's Eve cocktail is sure to add a touch of whimsy to your festivities.
Champagne has long been the NYE go-to effervescent drink, and while it's time to shake things up, tradition is still a wonderful thing to uphold. Champagne and its signature bubbles are still the stars of the show.
The French 75
Ingredients:1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 oz gin (I love Hendricks for this particular recipe)
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
4 oz chilled champagne or prosecco
Ice
In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, lemon juice, and 1/2 ounce of the Simple Syrup (reserve the rest for another round!). Fill the shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a flute and top with the chilled Champagne. Don't forget a twist of lemon peel. Voila!
