How would you describe your design aesthetic?
That's a challenging question! I would say my design aesthetic is a reflection of the things I truly love, which somehow come together harmoniously. Comfort is a top priority for me, so I focus on soft textiles, quality pillows, and practical items like a long phone charger.
Everything in my space serves a purpose, eliminating excess and keeping furnishings uncomplicated. I aim for minimal drawers to prevent clutter from accumulating. Music is also essential - with easy access to play and enjoy.
From where do you draw your inspiration?
West Marin, without a doubt! The beach, mountains, native flora, and a relaxed atmosphere are my greatest sources of inspiration.
Can you share tips for styling a beach house that feels contemporary and not overly coastal?
Absolutely! Stick to a tight color palette and incorporate modern lighting. Limit coastal-themed items to just one shell-shaped piece to avoid going overboard.
We love rituals at Elsie Green. Do you have a ritual for starting your day or centering yourself to make space for the creative process?
When our family is at the beach, we spend most of our time outdoors. Our days typically begin with a cup of coffee on the back deck, gazing at Mount Tam, followed by a loop around the beach with our dog, and hopefully, a swim or a session with the boogie board.
Share your three favorite beach reads.
With busy kids, I don't have a lot of time for beach reading these days! However, I enjoy listening to the AirMail podcast while walking on the beach solo. I recently finished Dolly Alderton’s "Good Material" and I'm about to start Miranda July’s "All Fours."

Parkside pastries are unbeatable. After a pastry, I often stop by the Stinson Beach bookshop. We make a daily trip to Gospel Flats in Bolinas for fresh lettuce and herbs, perfect for our daily crunchy green salads paired with something from the grill. And when we're feeling adventurous, a drive up the coast to Hog Island for oysters is always a treat.
