When people think about fresh food and farmers markets, there are, or course, markets that immediately spring to mind. Borough Market in London, Pike Place Market in Seattle, and La Boqueria in Barcelona are highly visited, and for good reason. But at Elsie Green, we love to find the unique, off the beaten path farm shops and markets. We aim to experience as much new, and as many exciting locales as possible, and hold a firm belief that if you want to truly understand a culture, look no further than the food the locals eat, and the markets they shop in.
A trend we have noticed is the attention being paid to the shops that are starting to live alongside the markets. Some are posh, some are down to earth, some are flower stalls with an honor system for payment. All hold the beauty of hard work and a vision. And summer is when these markets sing.
Consider this your summer market shopping guide, adding new to you markets along side your old faithfuls. Far be it from us to gate keep.
...and if you are looking to shop your own local markets, here is a handy guide.
Don't forget to use our Frankie Linen Bag, our Striped Cotton Tote or one of our Wide Moroccan Baskets with Leather Handles to haul all of your market goodies home.
