In France, we don't have Thanksgiving. So when we celebrate it here, we're creating our own version without the weight of tradition telling us what it should be. A beach picnic on Thanksgiving probably seems unconventional to Americans. But for us, it captures what we understand the holiday to be about: gratitude, gathering, being in a beautiful place with people we care about.

Every year I return to Montrozier, the village where my family has spent their holidays for twelve generations. Growing up in Paris and spending every summer in this creative environment shaped how I see homes - an approach that now defines my styling work.

From the moment we drove past this lovely field of past their prime sunflowers, our fall shopping trip was a whirlwind.  Come along for a behind the scenes peek.

Near our family village of Montrozier, my friends Eric and Alexandre have created something completely different - a converted barn that feels like their Paris apartment transported to the countryside.

What I love most about French country entertaining is the ease with which it comes, especially in my family and our village of Montrozier where my family has spent their vacations for twelve generations.

I'm a true Parisian - born and raised in the 7th arrondissement - but my roots run deep in Aveyron, a rural region in south-central France. Since childhood, I've spent my summers here, about two hours northeast of Toulouse, where rolling hills meet ancient villages.

Every Saturday at Rodez market, I head straight to one particular stand. The pain de Talou - a rustic country loaf that's become essential to our summers in Aveyron.

We love a good round up.

We don't mean to brag, but we're pros at traveling light, yet being prepared for just about anything.  Through many, many long trips around the world for business and pleasure we've perfected our arsenal of travel tricks and tools.
