As any vintage china collector will tell you, the real magic isn’t always on the front - it’s underneath, in the back stamps.
I’ve always been a collector. Not in the precious, museum-glove sense, but in the way that certain objects just stick with me. Matchbooks, hotel pens, stationery, beer mats - they’re not worth much, but they mean something. Each one is a tiny, tangible record of a place, a moment, a memory.
Back stamps on vintage china are no different. They tell you who made the piece, and where. Sometimes it’s a well-known manufacturer, other times it’s a small pottery from a village I’ve never been to - but still, somehow, feel a connection to. I may not have sipped espresso in every French town stamped on the bottom of my plates, but having them in my home brings those faraway places just a little closer.
Whether you're just starting out or a seasoned collector, our vintage dinnerware is full of hidden gems. Take a peek and see why we're so smitten with those back stamps.
