A floral designer, artist, and mother with impeccable taste and an even better heart.
If you’ve ever seen Natalie Bowen’s work — in a bouquet, an art piece, or a beautifully set table — you’ve felt her essence: thoughtful, elegant, and full of feeling. She brings a deep sensitivity to everything she touches, likely shaped by her own winding path to motherhood. Natalie’s approach to Mother’s Day is all about honoring that journey — for herself and for others — with a blend of solitude, celebration, and beauty.
Tell us a bit about what Mother’s Day means to you.
I like to spend Mother’s Day doing something for me without my kids at some point. I don’t have any expectations of them and what I want most is to have one time out where I thank myself for all that I do with a treat of some kind.
This year I am doing that with a night away at Stanley Ranch for an event with MOTHER mag, followed by hosting a Mother’s Day flower arranging event the day before. (Tickets are still available!) That will be the perfect combo of celebrating myself and also sharing my appreciation for others.
I spent many years unsuccessful at becoming a mother so the meaning of Mother’s Day has taken different forms throughout my life.
Natalie’s Mother’s Day Picks
A few things she’d love to give or receive.
French Ironstone Pitcher
I love a vessel that can run double-duty, like this one which is a pitcher or a vase. I also like any vase that is opaque so that the water doesn’t show through.
Moroccan Tadelakht | Diamond Vase
Believe it or not, I don’t have the best vase collection. I spent many years collecting vases I could use for weddings and events and didn’t take time to grow my own collection. This would be the perfect addition.
Pair of Twisty Beeswax Candles
I light candles every night, so I never tire of getting beautiful candles. I especially love the “antique” which is the perfect shade of green, and the “espresso” which is the perfect brown to offset all the pink I have in my flower world.
French Market Basket
It can be a tote, it can be a market basket, it can be decor. I haven’t met a beautiful woven bag I don’t love and this one is perfect.
Vintage Floral Still Life
Art is a timeless gift and this still life is perfection. A beautiful floral moment that would look great in any flower lover’s home.
Chic Stoneware Bottle
When I do collect vases, I notice that I am most drawn to those that look good with and without flowers. This would be a lovely gift with a few stems of flowers in it (peonies, perhaps) and then it will look great as a styling moment on your shelf.
