What makes Elsie Green special is our people. We've got a few former corporate executives, a floral designer, a former interior designer, a vintage collector, a teacher and a high school senior. But we're all shopkeepers at heart, manning the packing table, giving our signature brand of extraordinarily personal service in the shop, traveling the French countryside looking for pretty things, and playing with the merchandise all day.
Today we're chatting with our Warehouse Manager and newest team member. Keep reading to get to know Mitch and stop by the shops to say hello!
What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
I love working with my hands - whether that's restoring old cars, tinkering with vintage tools or just fixing things around the house. There's something really satisfying about bringing something back to life, especially when it has a history.

What are you currently reading?
Right now, I'm deep into The Splendid and The Vile by Erik Larson. I've always been fascinated by history, and Larson has a way of making it feel like you're right there in the moment.

What is your all-time favorite film?
Le Mans(1971) is at the top of the list - the cars, the racing, and the way it captures the thrill of the sport without over explaining it. Jaws is another favorite; it's a masterclass in suspense and storytelling. And Heat - that movie is just cool. The action, the cinematography, and the dynamic between De Niro and Pacino make it one of the best crime films ever made.

Do you have a favorite travel destination?
There's something about the California coastline. Driving Highway 1, stopping in small towns, and finding old diners along the way is one of my favorite ways to explore my home state. It feels like a timeless experience, like stepping into a postcard.

What is your dream travel destination?
I'd love to visit Normandy. I've always been fascinated by the history of World War II, and visiting the landing beaches, the American cemetery, and the museums would be incredible. There's something powerful about standing in a place where history was made. Plus, the region itself with its countryside, small villages, and coastal views offers an abundance of beauty that I'd love to experience.
