Early in my career, I teetered around the office in pumps, strappy sandals and boots, all with stiletto heels.  I credit that time with my chronic back pain and one foot that is sometimes numb.  But at the time I thought it was a small price to pay to be chic.

When I retired from my job as a corporate executive, I also retired my heels.   But rather than limit myself to only the Crocs, the Docs and the 'stocks, I have invested the time and energy in finding the perfectly chic styles of sneakers, sandals, ballet flats, boots and oxfords that still make my outfit, but do not make my back or my feet hurt.

Read on for my favorites.
