Fall Trendspotting | Suit Up

My favorite fall trend is the resurgence of power suits for women. While a suit has never gone out of style per se, it's definitely having a moment. For a few years there, the power suit was deemed "stuffy" or "boring." But now, power suits are bold, daring, and sexy.

Fashion After 50

Like most things after 50, fashion gets easier in some ways and it gets harder in other ways.  I've had more than 50 years to hone my personal style and I know what works for me.  On the other hand, not all silhouettes fit like they used to, and heels are out of the question most days.

When the temperatures drop there is nothing more comforting than draping yourself in a soft cashmere pullover or cardigan to keep warm from the cold.

Pretty in Pink

I live in NYC, so I've been the team's eyes on the ground for this year's fashion week. The shade I keep seeing everywhere is a shocking, pretty pink. I've been taking notes on how to incorporate this bold shade into my (admittedly) mostly neutral wardrobe.

My Fall Wish List

I don't buy much any more.   I have learned from my Parisian friend Philippine not to get too caught up in trends, to invest in classic, quality pieces that will last for years, and to stick with what works for my body.

One of the best things about Elsie Green is that each of the EG shopgirls is always eager to share her secrets. We love to share recommendations, reviews, and holy grail products, so I'm always finding new things to rave about.

This spring, we are loving simple, understated gold jewellery. It is the perfect accessory, appropriate for any outfit or occasion. Similar to perfume, jewellery that you commit to, can become symbolic of you and your personal style. A motif of sorts that strings together your wardrobe, and reminds others of you. For me, this piece is a serpentine necklace that falls just below the collarbone. It can be layered, or worn on its own, but always looks chic.

Black Out | Summer Edition

I have some fun summer travel planned, and my all black travel capsule served me so well last fall.  So I've adapted it to summer.   And as I'm packing in my head I'm realizing - smaller, lighter garments = more options.

The Elsie Green shop gals aren't much of trend-spotters. We love our tried and true basics and generally like to stick to our seasonal uniforms. However, we love a good upgrade to our staples when we see it.

Fashion After 50 | Laurie's Summer Linen Edit

Fashion in my 50s is liberating.  I know what works for my body, I don't feel compelled to tap into every trend, and I have a capsule of basics in my closet that I just to each season with a few key pieces.
