As I'm preparing for another sourcing trip to Europe, the excitement is building. I can barely hold a thought in my head as I'm anticipating the new infusion of inspiration that awaits me.

Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr are great tools, but I believe the best inspiration comes from being up & out in the world, rather than down & in at my desk. I remember so clearly observing Parisian street fashion on my very first Elsie Green trip and thinking "this is where all those pins are born." And seeing black and deep grey houses & barns in Copenhagen well before the trend appeared in the US.

And neons, & the toast food trend, laboratory glass used in chic cocktail bars, & large art pieces rather than gallery walls. All evident out in the world before they hit social media, when I have my eyes & mind open to see them.

There's nothing like visiting a European friend for dinner and soaking up the beauty of a simple meal in an effortlessly chic dining room. Or sitting in a café people watching in San Francisco. Or going to a classic restaurant and observing every detail.
No matter the setting, or the city, there is always something to inspire, if I'm open to it. I can't wait.
