We're shaking off some of our holiday season eating habits (christmas cookies, holiday cocktails, and loads and loads of carbs anyone?) by starting our mornings with a daily smoothie. We've rounded up three favorites that cover our typical smoothie categories: green, fruit and dessert.

The Green Smoothie

Ingredients:
1 celery stalk
1 small frozen banana
half of a small avocado
1 large handful baby spinach or other leafy green of your choice
1 Tbsp. plant-based protein powder
1/2 tsp. fresh grated ginger
1 cup coconut water
the juice of half a lime
optional: a few mint leaves

The Fruit Smoothie

This Blueberry Basil Smoothie from My New Roots is packed with antioxidants and the addition of basil is a delightful, unexpected twist.

Ingredients:
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 frozen banana
5-7 large basil leaves
1 Tbsp. tahini, almond butter, or other nut butter of your choice
1-3 tsp. bee pollen
2 Tbsp. hemp seeds
1 handful spinach
water or milk of choice to thin, as needed

The Indulgent Dessert Smoothie

We love to whip up this Coco Banana Date Smoothie when we're trying to limit our sugar but are craving something sweet and indulgent.

Ingredients:
2 cups coconut milk
4 large Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
one small frozen banana
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1-2 cups crushed ice
splash of orange juice
optional: 1/2 scoop vanilla protein of choice

Directions: Combine ingredients for each smoothie in a blender and blend until smooth. All three of these smoothies are best enjoyed chilled! Bon appétit! 

Pretty smoothies best enjoyed in pretty glassware.
