A Case for Pleating

The minimalist in me can get behind pleating. It's quietly refined. I love the subtle movement that pleating provides, and how I am able to joyfully play with proportions and layering because of it's understated elegance. I am a sucker for texture and draping, and luckily this offers both. Pleating is a classic that never goes out of style, but it's definitely been having a moment.

When I was working on my first degree in fashion, the collection that inspired me like no other was Dior's New Look collection, and that iconic pleated skirt. One could say I have been chasing the perfect pleated look ever since. And the street style inspiration has been giving and giving.
A band t-shirt and a pleated skirt is an elevated version of jeans and a tee, and can just as easily be paired with converse as with a great heel. A pleated dress for a night out barely needs any accessories, but honestly anything seems to pair seamlessly. And speaking of accessories, there are pleated bags and shoes that have quite literally stopped me in my tracks.
